Certify Holdings Expands in UK and Europe

Following the acquisition of Connecticut-based SMT Corp by Certify Holdings’ (Certify) principal shareholder Harwood Capital, Certify is now offering counterfeit mitigation and electrical testing services for defence and other critical infrastructure applications in the UK and EU, supporting these customers in the sourcing and authentication of obsolete and hard-to-find electronics components.

SMT Corp was among the first testing companies to have its counterfeit detection and test methods for electronics components accredited to Aerospace Standard AS6171, which was mandated by the US Defense Logistics Agency (“DLA”) in January 2022. The DLA mandated requirement has been introduced in response to government pressure on prime military contractors to use COTS components, inherent obsolescence issues in many military programs, the rise in counterfeit products and the current global shortage of electronic components. SMT Corp’s ISO17025/AS6171 and AS6081 certified authentication labs support the top aerospace and defence companies in the US.

APC Technology Group, a Certify Holdings company, is a franchised distributor in the UK and Ireland for more than 100 global manufacturers. It supports customers across multiple sectors with design-in, specification and sourcing of specialist electronic components and systems, control and management technologies and connectivity products. The integration under the Certify Holdings banner of SMT Corp and APC Technology Group positions Certify as a strategic global supply chain partner for companies in the defence and aerospace sectors.

Richard Hodgson, CEO of Certify Holdings, commented that

“Our UK and European customers have always valued APC’s long-standing franchised relationships with major manufacturers and our design-in technical expertise. Adding SMT Corp’s sourcing, counterfeit mitigation and in-house testing capability allows us to provide our customers with strategic support across the product lifecycle – from the early design stage through production to end of life and obsolescence management. There are currently no AS6171 test houses located in the UK or Europe, so this acquisition significantly broadens our capability and enables greater support to our valued customers”.
